As part of the health-care team, the Medical Laboratory Technologist performs laboratory tests and procedures that assist physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. PGC programme provides a scientific foundation enabling the students to develop competencies not only necessary for the provision of modern laboratory service for the public but to further education leading to Degree, masters, etc. The programme is designed further to encourage the students to acquire knowledge in the bio medical fields of relevance by which students will be able to generate reliable laboratory reports, interpret results, understand sources of errors and trouble shooting. PGC MLT Programme provides extensive on the JOB training, including a clinical internship.

NOTE: Due COVID the programme is delivered ON-CAMPUS and LIVESTREAMED (Virtual Classroom). Students could opt with which platform they wish to study. The livestream online classes makes a student to participate in PGC programmes from anywhere in the world.
Minimum 3 S Passes in A/L’s (Chemistry & Biology is compulsory) or PGC university foundation.
Those with 5 years of work experience as a MLT OR those with other relevant qualifications/ experiences will be assessed on case by case through PGC aptitude test and decided by academic council.
PGC is registered with Ministry of Health under PHSRC and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development under TVEC Sri Lanka. The programme is accepted* as entry criteria for the final year of Bio science degree at MSU Malaysia. PGC is also approved by Maldives accreditation. PGC Advanced Dip MLT Students are guaranteed* admission to the final year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Science (Hons) at MSU through MSI Colombo to complete the degree in Sri Lanka or in Malaysia.
MSU Malaysia is a 541′ QS World Ranked University and a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. (ACU)
Those completed the degree could apply to Masters/ PHD in Scandinavia, Australia, Canada, etc. leading to PR options.
Further the PGC MLT graduates could opt to transfer to healthcare related (biomedicine, biotechnology, nursing, microbiology, Biology Medical Laboratory Science, etc.) Bachelors in more than 60 universities across the globe through our partner universities.
